What is the goal of Museo: The Art Tourism App?
Museo: The Art Tourism App was invented to help people find art by their favorite artists. Using the app, you can easily favorite your most admired artists and art institutes to filter the global art map to show just what you love the most. It makes it easier to locate art and to ensure you never miss art by your favorites when you are near it. Museo also helps people to learn about new artists, special art exhibits, and to plan art tourism when traveling to new places.
The Museo Team hopes that this platform will support artists and art institutes globally by connecting the world with all of the amazing art there is to see. We hope it gives modern artists a free platform to showcase their work and that it helps increase ticket sales at art museums by helping people understand what is on view and available to be seen.
I work at a museum, gallery or institute. Can I update the art that's been mapped at my location?
Yes! You can sign up for a curator account by visiting here. We offer four different level memberships including a Platinum membership where you can customize your experience. Contact The Museo Team directly for Platinum memberships and with any questions you may have. Institutes benefit from having a curator membership so that they can carefully moderate what is being advertised at their institute to ensure the information is correct and up to date. Curators can verify the art submissions sent in by users and can also add images via the portal to expand on their patrons' experiences.
I'm an artist. Can I add my art to the map?
So long as your art is on display in a public space or at an institute (i.e. museum, gallery, etc.) then yes, you certainly can! You also can then be found in our catalog of artists making it possible for users to favorite you in-app.
I took a picture of a mural and I want to add it to the map. What should I do?
If you can, catalog it immediately! If you turn on location services, it makes it easy to grab your location and input the info before you walk away. It only takes about 30-60 seconds to catalog an artwork. If you took a photo and have to get going before cataloging the artwork, make sure to notate the address because you'll need it when you do catalog the art.
How do art submissions get approved?
The Museo Docent checks for submissions around the clock and will approve them as soon as possible!
Are any art submissions not approved?
Sometimes The Museo Docent is not able to approve a submission. The reason may be because it is a duplicate, the image is poor quality or has people in it, or the listing is missing vital information. We are working on adding a notification feature in-app so that users get notified if their submission has been rejected.
I found art on the map that's missing details I have. What can I do?

Can I add a photo for institute art?

Is it okay for Museo to display images of art?
The Museo Team put a great deal of thought, research and legal consultation into this matter. Museo was made by artists, and as a team we all found it very important to design the platform in a way that would not infringe on anyone's work. We keep the images in thumbnail size specifically to ensure they cannot be taken or misused after being found on the Museo platform. We also use thumbnail size photos to keep the images within the scope of Fair Use and for educational purposes only. If you are an artist and there is a photo of your work on our platform that you want removed, please notify us at our support link.

Why does Museo limit cataloging to five artworks per day for unpaid users?
The Museo Team is grateful for the effort our users are putting in to catalog art on the global art map! We chose to limit cataloging to give everyone an equal and fair shot at adding art to the map. However, we do offer unlimited cataloging to paid users as a perk for upgrading as the proceeds from the premium accounts help us to fund further Museo development.
Is Museo: The Art Tourism App run by a major corporation?
No, Museo is family owned and operated and all funding has been from in-house investments.
Where do Museo's proceeds go?
Museo is not profitable at this time, however if the platform ever does yield profit it will go directly into funding development. We do have a dream of giving back to Community Art Education initiatives if we are every able to do so!
