So—you did it! You downloaded the Museo App. Or maybe you explored the newly launched Museo website. How exciting.
But then… you scrolled. You zoomed. You searched for your city.
And for some of you, what you found was a little disappointing: no art pins yet.
Fret not. There’s a reason for that.
Museo is a user-driven global database of where art exists in the world. Every artwork you see on the map has been intentionally cataloged—added by The Museo Team, by museum and gallery curators, or by everyday art lovers just like you. This means the map is always growing. New artworks are added every single day, so each time you return, there’s something new to discover.
And here’s the best part: you can help build the map yourself.
If you stumble upon an artwork you love, you can catalog it in a minute or less. Simply open Museo, fill out the quick cataloging form, and become the first to tag it on the map. You can even choose to display your username in-app to receive public credit for your find. Some Museo users have already added hundreds of artworks, and you can search the map by their handle to explore only their discoveries.
When adding art, Museo will ask you to identify the artwork type:
This distinction helps keep the map accurate and simpler to locate.
Museo already has thousands of artworks mapped—and it’s growing every day. Building a global art map truly takes a village. With artists, institutes, curators, and users working together, we’re creating the ultimate global art map, filling in the gaps one artwork at a time, surfacing hidden treasures, and making art easier to find everywhere.
Your city’s art is out there.
Museo helps bring it into view.
